Buoyed by recent wins, Nantes will fancy the chance to test themselves against Rennes on Match Day 30 in Ligue 1. Hosts Nantes start this game five points above the relegation playoff zone while Rennes are four below the Conference League spot. Survival is within Nantes’ control now, following the two wins in their last three matches. Kader Bamba scored late in their last game to earn Nantes three invaluable points in a 1-0 win over Le Havre. Were it not for the late capitulation against Lyon, Nantes would be on three straight wins coming to this game. Nonetheless, they’ve shown the right attitude and are strong candidates for survival. With 16th-placed Lorient having a game in hand, Nantes will want nothing but a win here, to keep their five-point cushion. One concern for them this season though has been their home form. The team has won just three of the nine in the league at home. It is an area to improve on, having lost eight straight home games ahead of Rennes’ visit. Apart from home form, Nantes haven't had a strong scoring run in the league this season, averaging just 0.9 goals a game in their 29 matches. At home in the last 10 matches, they failed to score in six.

Rennes, earlier in the season tipped to challenge for a top-three place, have dropped seriously in recent times. After featuring in the Europa League this season, they’ll need to put in a lot to even finish in the Conference League spot. As things stand, their tally of 39 points places them just four points below sixth. Their recent elimination from the French Cup means they have to fight it out in the league for a spot in Europe. Les Rouge et Noirs aren’t on a good run coming into this game and that complicates matters for them. They’ve lost each of their last four matches, scoring just one goal in that period. A 2-0 win over Marseille in mid-March remains Rennes’ only victory in the last seven matches in all competitions. It isn’t any better on the road, Rennes failing to score in any of their last three away matches. They’ve also managed just a win in the last seven away matches – a French Cup game against National 2 side Le Puy Foot. The visitors’ silver lining coming into this game is their run of form against Nantes, having won each of the last three meetings.
