Matchday 19 in the Scottish Premier League sees relegation-threatened Motherwell hosting second-place Rangers. Motherwell started the season extremely strongly with three wins and a draw from their first four fixtures. Since then, however, the wheels have truly come off with the team failing to win a single match since early September. They’re in the midst of an ugly 14 game winless run with their last match ending in a 0-0 away draw to St. Mirren. It was the fourth draw in the last five games for the Steelmen who have pulled their points total to 16 on the season. Rangers find themselves second in the standings but with the possibility to leapfrog Celtic at some point. The Gers have a game in hand advantage over their fierce rivals who they trail by just two points. Philippe Clement’s men have been on a roll since the 49-year-old took over the job in mid October. He has yet to suffer his first loss as Rangers boss with his team racking up 12 wins and three draws across all competitions in his first 15 games. The visitors are coming off a 2-0 home win over St. Johnstone on Wednesday marking their sixth consecutive win. Naturally, the bookmakers have Rangers listed as heavy favorites which makes sense when factoring in their excellent 6-1-1 away record. Rangers also have a near faultless defensive record on their travels with just two goals conceded in eight matches.
