Sorana Cirstea, the 18th seed at the French Open, is through to the quarter-finals, where she faces eighth seed Mirra Andreeva. This is their second meeting this season, and the first having returned three sets, our prediction for this is the same.

Andreeva defeated Cirstea slightly over a month ago when they matched up in Linz. Coincidentally, that meeting was a quarter-final tie.

Coupling this head-to-head advantage with her strong form, the Russian will be confident of another win. Andreeva, the world number eight, has compiled a 32-9 record and won 18 times on clay courts.

Her latest victory was achieved in straight sets against Jil Teichmann.

Cirstea will be keen to avenge that loss in Linz. The Romanian had held her own against Andreeva and won the second set after dropping the first via a tiebreaker.

Since then, she has lost just three times in 15 outings. A semi-finalist in Rome right before arriving at Roland Garros, Cirstea defeated Wang Xiyu in straights to progress to the last eight.

This is the first time in 17 years that Cirstea is contesting a quarter-final tie at the French Open. The world number 18, who is set to retire at the end of the season, has compiled a 31-8 record.
