A crucial match at the bottom of the Championship table will play out this weekend when Millwall play host to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are currently in 21st place in the league standings, while the visitors are 23rd. After finishing eighth last term, this season has been something of a nightmare for Millwall. They have managed to take just 33 points from 32 league matches this season and are the first side above the relegation zone, just four points above Queens Park Rangers. The Lions suffered yet another loss in midweek, beaten comprehensively by Ipswich Town 4-0 here at The Den. That result extended their current losing streak to three matches in a row, while they are winless in their last seven in all competitions. Since getting knocked out of the FA Cup at the start of the year, Millwall have failed to win a home game, losing two and drawing one of their last three. However, they will see this as a very good opportunity to snap up their poor run of results, having beaten this opponent 4-0 in the reverse fixture back in November. 

Meanwhile, after securing promotion back to the Championship last season, Sheffield Wednesday look likely to head straight back down unless they can find some form in the final quarter of the league season. They are on 26 points after 32 matches and are firmly set in the drop zone, seven points from safety. The Owls also suffered defeat in midweek, beaten 2-0 by league leaders Leicester City, marking their fourth defeat in their last six matches (W1 D1 L4). That was also the fourth match in the period where they failed to score. On the road, Wednesday are carrying a three-match losing streak, conceding ten goals in that time without response. The last time they won an away game was back in December when they beat Preston North End 1-0. The visitors have failed to beat this opponent in their last six attempts (W0 D3 L3) and have been outscored 9-1 in that time, which sees them enter this weekend’s encounter as the clear outsiders.
