Seventh seed Rebecca Sramkova faces McCartney Kessler in the first round of the WTA Hobart International. Will we see an upset in this outdoor hard court match? Here’s our match prediction.
Rebecca Sramkova is at 48th in the live rankings with a career-high of Last week saw her play in the Brisbane International. It went well to start with in the first round as the first set was won 6-1 against Elina Avanesyan. However, only four games were won and the Slovak made an early exit.
Sramkova will want to return to the form shown during September and October of last year. Three WTA Tour finals were reached (all on hard courts) with the Thailand Open won. The 28-year-old will also have the ambition to do better in Grand Slams. She’s been playing in them since 2016 and is yet to reach a second round.
McCartney Kessler was also in the Brisbane International and made it to round two. Magda Linette was beaten in round one before a defeat by 15th seed Yulia Putintseva. Kessler is 67th in the live rankings and won four titles last year, one on the ATP Tour.
The American looks to be in the better form at present and we tip her to win this match.
