Mayar Sherif is through to the third tour final of her career, ending a two-year wait to return to this level. The Egyptian won the Emilia-Romagna Open to earn her first and only tour crown. To advance to the final here, Sherif, who is yet to lose a set in this tournament, defeated Kamila Rakhimova. She allowed the Russian just one game in their second encounter this year. Sherif has now recorded all 15 wins she has managed this season on clay and is up to 53rd in the live ranking. The 28-year-old has lost the two finals she has contested this year in the challenger circuit. This is likely to play in the back of her mind as she prepares for this final.

Peyton Stearns is playing in the second tour final of her career. The American finished as runner-up at the Copa Colsanitas last year and will hope this isn't the case here. Stearns defeated Viktoriya Tomova in a grueling semi-final that lasted over three hours. She dug her heels in and came from a set down to earn her 11th win of the season. The 22-year-old, who has had a rocky campaign, is now one win away from tying her record at 12-12. Advancing to the final has catapulted Stearns up 11 places to 70th in the live ranking. The five-time ITF champion has never won a title on clay in her career despite contesting three finals on the surface.
