The Eastbourne International is in danger of becoming Maxime Cressy v Great Britain. The world number 60 takes on Jack Draper in the semi-final after already having beaten Dan Evans and top seeded Cameron Norrie. He also defeated the fifth seeded Reilly Opelka in the first round and is yet to drop a set in this tournament. His previous two grass court tournaments this year both saw him lose in the top 32. When losing in Stuttgart, it was Dominic Strcker who beat him and he was ranked 200th at the time. Cressy is bidding to reach his second final of the year. He had a great run of form in Australia at the start of the year and lost to Rafael Nadal in the Melbourne warm-up event. This run to the semi-finals has seen him climb to 52nd and reaching the final can see him climb another seven places.

Jack Draper has proved this year that he has a great future in the game. Last year saw a glimpse of his ability when he went a set up against Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon. You can rest assure that no one will want to draw him at Wimbledon this year. Draper was in the top 100 for the first time but then slipped down to 108. His results this week have him up to a career high 94th and a win over Cressy will see him rise to 82nd. This isn't the usual case of a British player suddenly doing well when the grass court season begins. Draper is 48th in the Live ATP Race and has won four Challenger Tour events this year. He beat Lorenzo Sonego in Madrid and last week defeated Taylor Fritz, who he could meet in the final if the American beats reigning champion Alex de Minaur. This week has seen Draper beat Jenson Brooksby, fourth seeded Diego Schwartzman and fellow Brit Ryan Penistion, all without dropping a set. This might take him three sets but he can get a win over Cressy to reach his first ATP Tour final.
