Jiri Lehecka is the 32nd seed for the US Open and takes on unseeded Marton Fucsovics in round one. For the winner, there's a second round match against either Mitchelll Krueger or Hugo Grenier, both qualifiers. Here's our match prediction.
Lehecka has won one ATP Tour hard court event this year with success in Adelaide seven months ago. Then came injury in April and he's only played one tournament since then, this month's Cincinnati Masters.
That went well with the Czech reaching the last 16 and getting a win over Daniil Medvedev. He's hoping to win his first ever main draw match in this hard court Grand Slam. His previous three visits to New York.
Marton Fucsovics has only had one previous match against Lehecka. That was in this year's hard court tournament in Dubai and Lehecka won in three sets. The 32-year-old is 81st in the live rankings, 43 below Lehecka.
His most recent tournament was in Winston Salem where he lost in round two to eventual runner-up Alex Michelsen. The Hungarian has struggled for form with six losses in his last seven ATP/Olympic events.
This poor run followed after winning the Bucharest clay court tournament in April. Only four of his ATP Tour main draw hard court matches have been won this year. His best run in this US Open is a third round in 2020.
