Second seeded Taylor Fritz bids to reach the last eight of the Geneva Open. It's an all-American meeting as he faces unseeded Marcos Giron. The winner takes on either the eighth seeded Adrian Mannarino or unseeded Iyla Ivashka in the quarter-final of this outdoor clay court event. Fritz will be hoping for a good run here in his last tournament before Roland Garros begins next week. Fritz is ranked ninth in the world at present but a couple of more wins can take him above Jannik Sinner into eighth place. He was as high as fifth earlier this year but dropped down the rankings when failing to successfully defend his Inidan Wellls title. His form on clay this year has seen him reach the last four in both Monte Carlo and Munich. Seven out of 11 matches have been won but he's lost the last two. He definitely needs a bit of a confidence boost this week.

Marcos Giron began this Geneva Open ranked 74th in the world. His first round win over Alexander Bublik saw him lose only lose four games, all in the first set. The American is attempting to reach his fifth ATP Tour quarter final of the year. Only one has been on clay though and that was in Munich. His most recent tournament was the Rome Masters and that saw him lose in the first round. He trails Fritz 2-1 in previous meetings with the most recent being in Dallas earlier this year. This is their first meeting on a clay court surface and we believe it will end in a win for Fritz.
