Mansfield Town boss Nigel Clough will hope his out-of-sorts Stags can find some form on Friday night as they welcome Kevin Nolan’s Northampton Town to the One Call Stadium. Will our prediction back the home team for the win, or will we back the visiting Cobblers ensure another miserable evening for the home fans? Or a different market entirely?

A tough run of four straight league defeats means Mansfield have dropped from the battle for the playoffs down to 14th in the League One table. They have 37 points from 27 games. That’s only seven points more than Northampton who lie 20th in the table. The Cobblers have played 29 games in total however.

Mansfield come into this game seeking to end four straight league defeats, including both their last two home games (2-1 against Wycombe and then 1-0 against Crawley). They were beaten 3-2 at Cambridge and then last weekend went down 2-1 away to Shrewsbury, meaning they have lost to all the bottom three teams in the last four games.

The Cobblers form is only marginally better as they drew 0-0 away to Wycombe Wanderers before losing 3-1 on the road at Bolton. Last weekend though, they put on a solid display defeating high-flying Huddersfield 3-2 at home. In doing so, completing a league double over the Terriers.
