We enter March with a mouth-watering Matchday 28 matchup, where Manchester United will look to maintain momentum against Crystal Palace in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday. The Red Devils are fourth in the league standings, while the Eagles are in 13th place after 27 games. Check out our match prediction below!

Unbeaten since returning to the helm, awarded Manager of the Month for January, and keeping Champions League qualification alive - fair to say, Michael Carrick’s impact since stepping back inside Old Trafford has been immense. Now trailing Villa by three points, United could end this weekend in third place if they secure victory in this match.

In the opposite dugout, a week after being taunted with chants of “youre’ getting sacked in the morning,” Oliver Glasner shrugged off backlash momentarily by navigating Palace to the last 16 in the Conference League on Thursday night. Another win here can propel the Eagles into the top half of the EPL, but a defeat could see them end the weekend just seven points above the drop. To the key stats!

Manchester United - Crystal Palace: Form Analysis

Manchester United widened their advantage in the Premier League standings over fourth-placed Chelsea to three points after edging Everton to a tense 1-0 victory on Monday night.

Carrick has now delivered five wins and a draw since returning to the helm, extending the team’s unbeaten streak to 10 matches (W6 D4) - the longest active run without defeat in the top flight.

United have also won their last three home games and are unbeaten in their last seven top-flight matches at Old Trafford. They’ve now taken 27 points from 13 home games, which is the fourth-best home record in the division.

Man United have scored two or more goals in each of their last three home games!

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace dug deep to snatch a 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend before defeating Zrinjski in their UECL knockout playoff second leg on Thursday night.

Perhaps the most pleasing thing for the Eagles is that they kept clean sheets in both of those games. It was the first time they recorded back-to-back shutouts since November last year.

Palace have earned 20 points from 13 league matches on the road, but have only won one of their last five away league games (D1 L3). However, they have won their last two matches at this venue.

Manchester United & Crystal Palace Squad Analysis

After netting the winner against Everton - his third goal in four appearances - Benjamin Sesko is now banging on the door for his first start under his new boss. But the big question for Carrick is who drops to the bench?

The most likely candidates are Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha or Amad Diallo. It was the latter that made way for the Slovenian against the Toffees, and many suspect that the Ivorian may have to settle for a spot on the bench this week.

Matthijs de Ligt and Patrick Dorgu are ruled out through injury for the hosts. Mason Mount has missed four games, and Lisandro Martinez sat out the trip to Merseyside with a knock, but both players have an outside chance to return this weekend.

Bryan Mbeumo has recorded goal contributions in five of his last six EPL games!

Evann Guessand came off the bench to score the winner against Wolves and followed up by netting again on Thursday night, which should see him get the nod to start the match this weekend.

That will likely mean that former Tottenham Hotspur man Brennan Johnson will start on the bench, with Ismaila Sarr and Jorgen Strand Larsen expected to complete the Eagles’ attacking trio.

The visitors will be without at least four players for this trip to Manchester due to injury, including Jefferson Lerma, Eddie Nketiah, Cheick Doucoure and Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Our Manchester United vs Crystal Palace Prediction

Since Michael Carrick’s return to Old Trafford, Man United have looked like a side transformed, and they are now riding the longest active unbeaten run in the EPL (10 games), dating back to December 21.

Crystal Palace picked up wins and clean sheets in their last two games, but this is a very short turnaround from their UECL fixture on Thursday night. The visitors have only won one of their last five away league games, and we feel they will struggle to take anything from this one. Our Manchester United vs Crystal Palace prediction is Manchester United wins.
