50 years ago, Southampton famously won the FA Cup. Half a century later, they take on Manchester City at Wembley for a place in the final of this historic competition. Can the Saints beat a third Premier League side? Read our match prediction below.
Southampton made a slow start to this season but they are now in with a chance of being promoted from the Championship. They were in that league 50 years ago (then called Division Two) when beating Manchester United to lift the FA Cup for the one and only time. The Saints last reached the final 23 years ago and now face the other half of Manchester as they bid to again win a semi-final.
Manchester City haven't always been at their best this season. Yet here we are in April with them in with a chance of winning the treble. The EFL Cup has already been won and the Citizens are now top of the Premier League. Will they get to their third successive FA Cup final?

Manchester City - Southampton: Form Analysis
Midweek saw Manchester City win 1-0 at Burnley to go top of the Premier League. That was their fifth successive victory with 12 goals scored and just one conceded. It's beginning to look like one of their famous winning runs that ends with lots of silverware being won.
In this season's FA Cup, the Blues have beaten Salford City, Exeter City, Newcastle United and Liverpool. 19 goals have been scored (10 against Exeter) with only a couple scored by their opponents.
This is their eighth straight FA Cup semi-final. They have been the runners-up for the past two seasons.
Half a century on.
One of the most famous FA Cup finals was played in 1976. A Bobby Stokes goal saw Southampton beat Manchester United 1-0 to lift the trophy. This is their first time in the semi-finals since 2020-21.
They beat Arsenal that season and repeated that feat in this season's quarter-finals. Leicester City, Doncaster Rovers and Fulham have also been beaten on the way to this semi-final. They will be hoping to reach the FA Cup final for the first time since the 2002-03 season.
The Saints are unbeaten in their last 20 matches, last losing in January. They are fourth in the Championship, three points behind the one remaining automatic promotion place. A form guide for the last 15 league games has them eight points clear at the top.

Manchester City & Southampton Squad Analysis
It wouldn't be the usual season for a Manchester City fan if they didn't see their team reach the FA Cup semi-finals. This is the eighth consecutive season in which they have made it to this stage and four of the previous seven have seen them go on to reach the final.
City have already won the EFL Cup this season. They are attempting to repeat the EFL/FA Cup double that they achieved in the 2018-19 season. City have won their last five games and the goals are starting to flow again for Erling Haaland.
He's scored five goals for City in his last three games and that includes a hat-trick in their 4-0 win over Liverpool in the quarter-finals.
Rodri may miss this game against Southampton. Ruben Dias is likely to be included.
Southampton would lo repeat their heroics of 1976. They are going strong in the Championship and have been the clear form pick in that division for the past few months. Only a slow start to the season may see them end up in the play-offs rather than secure automatic promotion.
Selection problems for the Saints.
The Saints have a couple of players suspended for this semi-final. Both Flynn Downes and Ryan Manning will be absent this weekend. There is also an injury doubt over their captin Jac Stephens.
