Mamelodi Sundowns vs Cape Town Spurs Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier Soccer League

Two sides at opposite ends of the PSL table will face off in midweek when Mamelodi Sundowns take on Cape Town Spurs on Wednesday evening. The hosts currently sit atop the league standings, while the visitors are at the bottom after 13 games. Sundowns come into this match off the back of a stalemate against Pyramids in the CAF Champions League in midweek. While that was not the ideal home result, it did still keep them at the top of their group. The Brazilians will now return to league action, where they have been incredible this season. Owing to their participation in continental cup competitions, Sundowns have only played 10 league games this season. They have won all 10 of those matches and have four games in hand on the sides below them. In addition, the hosts have only conceded three goals this term and just one in their last five. Perhaps the only concern for the Brazilians is their fixture congestion, with eight games scheduled in December alone. As a result, this could be a fixture Sundowns consider rotating their squad before their trip to Egypt next week. 

In complete contrast, Cape Town Spurs look destined for relegation unless they can find some major improvements in the second half of the season. Spurs are rooted to the bottom of the PSL table with three points in 13 games. Those points came in a 2-1 win over Orlando Pirates at the start of November, while their remaining 12 matches all ended in defeat. The visitors lost 3-0 to Stellenbosch in their last match, marking their fourth consecutive league loss since that lone victory over Pirates. Unsurprisingly, Spurs’ biggest issue of late has been in defence, where they have shipped 27 goals already this season, which is eight more than the next-worst defence in the league. The visitors have lost their last three matches against Sundowns dating back to 2017 and are the clear outsiders in this one.
