Matchday 16 in the A-League will see Macarthur playing host to Melbourne City at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Saturday. The Bulls are sixth in the league standings while the Hearts are in third place. Let’s get into the match prediction.

After an impressive end to 2024, Macarthur have made a mixed start to the New Year, splitting their four games this month two wins and two defeats. 

Their most recent match ended in a 2-1 defeat at home to Wellington Phoenix on Monday, which marked the third time they conceded two or more goals in their last four league games. 

Notably, despite their solid league position, the hosts have been very poor at home this season, managing just one win at the start of the campaign, while they are winless in their last six (D2 L4). 

Meanwhile, after losing 3-0 to Auckland over the weekend, Melbourne City will be aiming for a victory here to maintain pressure on the top two teams in the league standings. 

Prior to last week’s result, Hearts had kept three consecutive clean sheets and avoided defeat in seven league games on the bounce, winning four and drawing three. 

On the road, though, the visitors have failed to win any of their last three matches (D2 L1), which is a notable drop-off after winning their first four of the season.
