Lyon vs Rennes Prediction & Betting Tips - Ligue 1

Ninth placed Lyon have a lot of work to do if they want European football next season. They host Rennes who are sixth and only a couple of points behind the Europa Conference League place. Lyon have had a mixed week with a big win at PSG followed by defeat at Nantes in the French Cup. That's another route into Europe blocked off and they are also struggling in Ligue 1. With nine games to go, they are eight points behind fifth place. Lyon are unbeaten in their last five league fixtures but three have been drawn with them having to come from behind in two of them. Only Auxerre have beaten them in their last ten Ligue 1 games. Home form has produced six league wins this season and three defeats. Only 11 goals have been conceded in their 14 home league games, only Lens have let in less. Lyon are unbeaten in their last four at home but three of those games had under 2.5 goals scored in them.

Rennes are still dreaming of making it into Europe. A win over Lyon will see them move into sixth place if Lille fail to win at bottom-of-the-table Angers. They also had a recent away win at PSG but then lost 1-0 at home to Lens last weekend. That defeat cost them sixth place in the table and they'll be looking to bounce back with a win at Lyon. Form isn't great though with that win at PSG being the only one they've had in their last four league fixtures. Away form in Ligue 1 this season has been inconsistent with only four wins in 14 games with five draws and the same number of losses. They have won two of the last three on the road and all had under 2.5 goals scored in them. In what is likely to be a tight match, that stat may well come up again.
