Seventh-placed Lyon will play host to Monaco, who are in fourth in Ligue 1, on Friday evening. Monaco are eight points behind Marseille in third place and six points above Rennes in sixth. With three games left in the season, Monaco could be guaranteed of a Europa qualification spot if they win this match and Rennes fail to win their encounter against Ajaccio on Sunday afternoon. Monaco played out a 0-0 draw in their last match against Lille, which took their recent record to two wins, two draws, and two losses in their last six league matches. Over the course of the season, Monaco have been good in away matches, taking 35 points from a possible 51. Their away record reads as ten wins, five draws, and just two losses in 17 matches on the road. The visitors won the reverse fixture 2-1 back in September last year and will need to be at their best to complete the league double over this opponent in this one. 

Meanwhile, Lyon are still in with a shot of sneaking into the Europa League qualification places, but they will need some luck along the way. The hosts are currently four points behind the top five sides in the league, with games against Reimes and Nice to come after this one before the end of the season. Lyon suffered a 2-1 loss to Clermont last weekend, which was their second in their last six matches, along with four wins. Their home form has been somewhat underwhelming this season, with a record of eight wins, five draws, and four losses in their 17 matches at the Groupama Stadium. Despite losing to Monaco in their last two attempts, both those losses were in away fixtures. Lyon did win the last time these sides met at this venue in 2021 and will be hoping to come out on top here as well as they aim to keep their Europa League hopes alive.
