Luke Humphries will take on Cameron Menzies in the opening round of the 2026 World Matchplay on Monday. Cool Hand Luke enters Blackpool off the back of winning the US Darts Masters, and our prediction is that he will be too strong for Cammy.
Luke Humphries enters the 2026 World Matchplay as the number 2 seed. After winning this competition in spectacular fashion in 2024, he suffered a shock first-round elimination last year.
Cool Hand Luke has been in impressive form this year, having already racked up four PDC titles, while also finishing as the runner-up to Luke Littler at the World Championship and Premier League.
Humphries’ last competitive match was winning the final of the US Darts Masters. He has won eight of his last 10 matches in all competitions and each of his last five against this opponent.
Meanwhile, Cameron Menzies earned his spot in this competition as a ProTour Qualifier. He was beaten convincingly by Danny Noppert 10-2 in the first round of the 2025 World Matchplay.
Cammy notched up his first PDC title of the year at the start of this month at the Players Championship 23. He was also a semi-finalist at the Darts World Cup earlier in the year.
Menzies lost to Jan Schmidt in the opening round of the European Darts Open last week, which brought an end to his nine-match win streak.

Our Luke Humphries vs Cameron Menzies Prediction
After a fairly underwhelming first half of the year, Cameron Menzies has been steadily improving in recent weeks and finally notched up his first ranking title of 2026 at the PC23 event earlier this month.
However, the Scot is now set to face Luke Humphries, who has been in excellent form over the past few months, capped off with that win in the US. Cool Hand has dominated this fixture over the years, and we feel he will win this one fairly comfortably. Our Luke Humphries vs Cameron Menzies prediction is Luke Humphries -2.5.
