Can the qualifier Xinyu Wang reach the Berlin Open final? The semi-final of this grass court tournament sees her take on unseeded Liudmila Samsonova. Here’s our match prediction.

The Chinese player had a difficult time qualifying for this main draw. Three sets were needed in both of her qualifiers. It’s been considerably smoother since then, however.

Liudmila Samsonova has been in impressive form this week. Round one saw her come from a set down to defeat Naomi Osaka. Then the Russian caused a shock when beating third-seeded Jessica Pegula, again needing three sets.
It was a much faster win in the quarter-finals as Samsonova beat Amanda Anisimova for the loss of just two games. The has won two grass court titles, most recently winning last year’s Libema Open.
