Los Angeles FC will on Monday host New England Revolution in round three of the new Major League Soccer season. Both teams have won their opening matches and it will be interesting to see who relinquishes their 100% record. The Revolution have played two matches while LAFC have played one. LAFC already have a game in hand in the league due to being involved in the CONCACAF Champions League where on Friday they beat Costa Rica’s LD Alajuelense 3-0 away from home to take a commanding lead in their last 16 two-legged tie. Steven Cherundolo’s men have started the season with the same tempo as they ended last year’s title-winning campaign. Before turning to continental duties, they had battled to a 3-2 win over Portland Timbers in their season opener. Against Portland, their game management frailties were laid bare as they let a 3-0 lead slip. This could be a side that The Revolution could look to target and with their vibrant attack, this could be another game that sees at least over 2.5 goals. Denis Bouaga scored a hattrick against Alajuelense and should keep his place in attack alongside Carlos Vela and Kwadwo Opoku. Vela and Opoku were on the score sheet against Portland.

New England Revolution are not in the Champions League after finishing with the 20th-best record last season but they have started this year’s campaign with the form that suggests their target is another MLS Cup title. Bruce Arena’s men have won their opening two matches without conceding a goal. They beat Charlotte FC 1-0 away before brushing aside Houston Dynamo 3-0 at home last time out. They are one of four teams to win their opening two matches and sit third due to goal difference. Since LAFC’s expansion, The Revolution have not won against them but their start to the season suggests this could change. All four of their goals have been scored by different players and this could work to their advantage here.
