Two seeds meet in the third round of the Miami Open. Lorenzo Musetti is the 23rd seed and takes on Ben Shelton who is seeded 16th. There could be a tough fourth round match for the winner with the potential opponents being either unseeded Gael Monfils or top seed Carlos Alcaraz. Musetti is in the third round of this outdoor hard court Masters 1000 tournament for only the second time. His previous third round appearance was in 2021. He's ranked 24th in the world but only 67th in the ATP Live Race. One quarter final has been reached this year but it only took one victory to see him get that far. Musetti beat unseeded Roman Safiullin in straight sets in his second round match. That was a welcome win after losing five of his last six matches.A win over Shelton will see him win two straight matches in a tournament for the first time this year.

Ben Shelton is playing in the Miami Open for the first time. His only other appearance was last year and he lost in round two. He beat that this year though with a straight sets win over wild card Martin Landaluce. Shelton is up a place to 16th in the live rankings  A couple more wins can see him go up to 15th which would equal his career high. The American has reached two outdoor hard court semi-finals this year in Auckland and Dallas and a quarter final in Acapulco. He's yet to beat Musetti but their only previous meeting was last year on grass. Shelton can get his revenge here and move into round four..
