Premier League giants Liverpool and La Liga outfit Real Betis will continue their preparations for the new season when they face off at the Acrisure Stadium on Saturday morning. This is the first match of the pre-season for the Reds, while Los Verdiblancos are playing their second match this month. Check out our prediction below. 

New manager Arne Slot, will get the first proper view of his team since replacing Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season when the German tactician steered the Reds to third place in the league standings. 

However, the new boss will enter this match with a very youthful-looking squad with the likes of Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Trent Alexander Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker and Joe Gomez, among others, all set to join the squad at a later stage. 

Liverpool finished on 82 points, nine behind Premier League champions Manchester City and 14 clear of fourth-placed Aston Villa last term. Over the final six games of the season, the Reds posted a record of three wins, two draws and one loss, and were unbeaten in their final four games. 

Despite the significant changes in personnel, the Reds are the bookmakers’ favourite heading into this contest. 

Meanwhile, despite securing European football, Real Betis will be somewhat disappointed by their performance last season, dropping to seventh place from sixth in the previous season, and accumulating three fewer points. 

Los Verdiblancos will have to make do without Euro 2024 winner forward Ayoze Perez and Copa America champion German Pezzella, who returned late from international duty. Abde Ezzalzouli and Juan Miranda are currently away at the 2024 Paris Olympics with Morocco and Spain, respectively.

Betis played one match already this month, against Austria Salzburg last week. They eased to a 5-1 win that day and ended the last league season with only one defeat in their final eight games (W4 D3 L1).
