Leeds United suffered their first defeat in the Championship of 2024 on Saturday, when going down 2-1 away to Coventry City. That result leaves them third in the Championship table, two points behind Leicester and one behind Ipswich Town, but with Leicester having a game in hand over the second and third placed teams. United have won just one of their last four on the road, but at home they have been imperious winning all of their last nine and 15 of their last 16 games. They remain unbeaten at Elland Road this season with 16 wins and four draws from their 20 games and have conceded just 13 goals at home this season, while scoring a hugely impressive 44. 

Sunderland recently ended a run of seven games without a win, six of those defeats, with a 2-0 win away to Cardiff City. However since then they were beaten 5-1 at home by Blackburn Rovers and then were held 0-0 at the Stadium of Light on Saturday by Bristol City. The Black Cats have won just five of their 20 away games this season, drawing five more and losing ten. They have scored 21 goals and conceded 23, which is not too bad, but nine of those goals came in a run of three away game victories (3-1 twice and 3-0 against QPR, Blackburn and Sheff Wed) in a row back in September. Mike Dodds has had a tough time since becoming interim coach after the sacking of Michael Beale in February.
