Brighton and Hove Albion continue their bid to qualify for European football next season. They are seventh in the Premier League and this weekend travel to Leeds United who are 14th and safe from relegation. The Seagulls have a strong record against United and they certainly have more to play for in this game than the home side. That is a major factor here as the season comes to an end and a big reason for the prediction we will make.

Seventh place would be good enough for Brighton to qualify for European football for only the second time in their history. They had a good win over Wolves last weekend but will be wary that their final fixture is a tricky home game against Manchester United. Three points at Elland Road is going to be so important for them.

Leeds United would rather have been playing at Wembley this weekend but lost in the FA Cup semi-finals. The Whites have been battling relegation all season but have been in good form for most of the second half and are a comfortable eight points clear of the bottom three with two games to play.

Leeds - Brighton: Form Analysis

Last weekend saw Brighton gain three vital home points. They got off to a quick start with two early goals and eventually beat relegated Wolves 3-0 at home. With two games to play in this season's Premier League, the Seagulls are only two points behind sixth place and the same gap exists to eighth.

Brighton bid to continue their good record against Leeds.

Albion have won 14 league games this season and that includes a 3-0 home win over Leeds United last November. They are unbeaten in their last seven matches against United who last beat them nine years ago.

On the road, Brighton have won five away league games this season but have won three of the last five.

Leeds United have no relegation worries and will be playing in the Premier League again next season. The Whites came from behind to draw 1-1 at Tottenham last weekend and are unbeaten in their last two matches.

While they have only lost one of their last ten games, they have just a sole victory in their four most recent matches.

Leeds & Brighton Squad Analysis

Brighton will be missing Kaoru Mitoma for the rest of the season. The Japanese international suffered a hamstring injury against Wolves last Saturday and will miss the World Cup this summer as a result of that. The Seagulls will have Diego Gomez available again for this trip to Elland Road but is likely to be on the bench.

Mats Weiffer is also expected to be available again for this fixture. Brighton have had three recent away league wins but were beaten at Newcastle in their last away fixture. That is their only loss in the last seven matches that have been played by Brighton.

Nchema could start for Leeds.

Leeds drew last weekend and are safe from relegation. It will be interesting to see how they approach this Premier League game now that the threat of relegation no longer exists. Lukas Nchema was impressive when coming on as a sub against Spurs on Monday and could start against Brighton.

Gabriel Gudmundsson is also a possible starter for United. He has been out injured in recent weeks but has returned to full fitness. The Whites will be missing defender Pascal Strujik who was injured on Monday night's game.

Our Leeds vs Brighton Prediction

Brighton and Hove Albion are seventh in the table and close to clinching qualification for European football next season. They have had a tendency to blow hot and cold this season but with so much at stake for them, the Seagulls will be going all out for a win at Elland Road.

Leeds have achieved their ambition of avoiding an immediate return to the Championship. They don't have a great deal to play for now that safety has been confirmed. Their record against Brighton is not good and our main Leeds v Brighton prediction is Brighton wins.
