Lauren Davis is the only seeded player left in the Strasbourg Open. The seventh seeded American faces unseeded Anna Blinkova for a place in the final. Whoever wins this match will take on either Clara Burel or wild card Elina Svitolina. Davis began this clay court tournament ranked 58th in the world. This run to the last four has seen her go up to 52nd and reaching the final can take her to 45th. This is her second clay court semi-final of the year. The other came in the Catalonia Open at the start of this month. Davis has had to go three sets in her last two matches en route to this semi-final. The last eight was an up and down match for her winning just one game in the opening set against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. The scores were leveled via a tie-break and Davis then didn't drop a game in the final set. Davis will be wanting a confidence boost before Roland Garros. Seven of her last eight visits there have seen her lose in the first round. Davis is bidding to win her second title of the year after winning a hard court event in Hobart four months ago.

World number 66 Anna Blinkova is in her second semi-final of the year. The other was in that Hobart tournament in January and it was Lauren Davis who beat her. Since then, the Russian has failed to reach the last eight of any tournament played until this week. On clay this year, Blinkova has won four out of nine matches before heading to Strasbourg. This week got off to a difficullt start with her having to come from behind to defeat Amandine Hesse. Two straight sets wins have followed but Davis is the first seed that the 24-year-old has faced. Davis looks to be in the better form and can reach the final.
