Third seed Moyuka Uchijima will play the unseeded Laura Siegemund in the opening round of the 2024 Jiangxi Open. The two players clash on Tuesday, and we have a prediction for this match below.
Laura Siegemund arrives in Jiujiang seeking to get back to winning ways. The German suffered her 20th loss of the season when she fell in the first round in Osaka last time out.
A finalist in Hua Hin a month ago, Siegemund has won 25 matches and made it to the quarter-finals of a tour event at least four times. The former top 30 player starts her campaign here ranked 100th in the live ranking.
Moyuka Uchijima has had a superb campaign playing in the lower tiers but hasn’t had the same effect on the tour. The Japanese player, who has compiled a 51-24 record and won five ITF titles, has a losing tour record.
She has lost eight of the 13 main draw matches she has played. The 23-year-old, who is ranked 55th in the WTA, which is a new career high, has lost three of her last four fixtures. She is coming off a second-round defeat in Tokyo.
The winner of this first ever meeting between the two will play Tamara Korpatsch or Priska Nugroho next.

Our Laura Siegemund vs Moyuka Uchijima Prediction
Our prediction for Laura Siegemund v Moyuka Uchijima is for Laura Siegemund to win. Siegemund is the more experienced tour-level player in this match. She has recorded at least three quarter-final appearances at this level and was a finalist in Hua Hin a month ago.
The German should therefore have enough to offset the challenge of a player struggling to compete on the tour. Uchijima has dominated in the lower tiers but in the tour, lost more times than she won.
