La Vuelta - Stage 8 Predictions & Betting tips - La Vuelta
by Matthew Newman |
Stage 8 is a sprinter's paradise, almost flat with just a few lumps and bumps for the peloton to negotiate. This is a great opportunity for the fast men to have a day in the sun and potentially the last chance until Stage 19! Let's get stuck into a prediction.
The opening stage of La Vuelta has been the only flat stage for the sprinters so far, with Jasper Philipsen coming out on top. This is an easier route than that one, which means that he is going to be the man that they all have to beat.
This is probably not going to be hard enough to give Mads Pedersen a win. He did plenty of work to get into the break on Friday's stage, so it will be interesting to see what he has in the legs for a sprint here.
Ben Turner won the other bunch finish on Stage 4, though that was a much tougher terrain with some climbing early in the day. He still needs to be respected, though, given that he won on the stage to Voiron.
Another Brit to consider is Ethan Vernon. He was runner-up to Philpsen on Stage 1 and then finished fourth on the stage that Turner won. He would have a chance on that form.

Our La Vuelta - Stage 8 - La Vuelta prediction
After a couple of stages in the medium mountains, there is a flat stage to Zaragoza, which is going to be perfect for the sprinters. There have not been many opportunities for the fast men so far, and it will be week three until the next major chance.
The best stage for the true sprinters was Stage 1 in Italy, where Jasper Philpsen won with any amount in hand, even in a bunch finish, confirming he is the man to beat in this discipline. Our La Vuelta Stage 8 prediction is Jasper Philipsen to win.
