La Vuelta - Stage 7 Predictions & Betting tips - La Vuelta
by Matthew Newman |
Stage 7 of La Vuelta, and we continue in the mountains with another finish atop a Cat 1 climb. There are four climbs in total across this stage, which is the most difficult so far in the race. Let's take a look at the leading contenders for the win in our prediction.
The final climb is 12km long with a couple of sections that are 14%. That is going to make it very difficult for a breakaway unless they have a huge gap at the bottom of the final climb. It suggests that it will be a day for the overall contenders.
Juan Ayuso was spat out the back early on the final climb on Stage 6, so UAE will be relying on Joao Almeida now. The team are full of confidence after their Team Time Trial win on Stage 5 and Jay Vine winning from the breakaway on Stage 6.
There were a couple of tentative attacks in the GC group, but ultimately, the big contenders crossed the line together. Giulio Ciccone and Jonas Vingegaard went away briefly but were clawed back.
Vingegaard will continue to follow all the attacks here as he is in front of his main rivals for the overall winner's jersey. This could be a statement stage for him to close out the opening week of the race.

Our La Vuelta - Stage 7 - La Vuelta prediction
A similar type of stage to Thursday, but a little more climbing to be done overall. There is still a Cat 1 climb to the line as there was on Stage 6, but this one hits much harder percentages on the way up, which is really going to split the field apart.
There has not been enough of the race on the big climbs yet to know who has the strongest legs, but there is no doubt who the best rider is when he is on his game. Our La Vuelta Stage 7 prediction is Jonas Vingegaard to win.
