La Vuelta - Stage 15 Predictions & Betting tips - La Vuelta

The final stage of La Vuelta before the second rest day is the opposite of the last two with the majority of the climbing early on. There are two official climbs for our prediction to consider, but there are plenty of uncategorised climbs throughout the day.
This is not hard enough for the overall contenders to worry about but nor is it easy enough for an all out sprinter. The stage goes straight up a Category 1 climb from flagfall so attacking climbers will be straight into action.
Mads Pedersen has been active to pick up the points in the intermediate sprints and if he can get over these early climbs, he would be the red-hot favourite to win this stage. That will depend on the Lidl-Trek team keeping him safe.
It will be interesting to see if Filippo Ganna fancies this. He will have an eye on the Individual Time Trial on Stage 18 but he is more than capable of getting over hills when he has to.
The likes of Mikel Landa, Lorenzo Fortunato and Wout Poels all backed out of things early on Stage 14 as if they have bigger plans in the days ahead, though whether they would have enough in a sprint is debatable.

- There are 167.8km to cover on Stage 15 of La Vuelta.
- 3,099 vertical metres of climbing awaits the peloton but the Category 1 and 2 climbs are both done after 54.5km.
- The last time that the Vuelta came to Monforte de Lemos, it was a similar profile of a stage and it turned into a sprint finish.
- A win on this stage would go a long way towards Mads Pedersen winning the green jersey so Lidl-Trek will be fully focused on guiding him to the win.

The key to Stage 15 of La Vuelta is going to be how well Lidl-Trek can look after Mads Pedersen over the two early climbs and then control those who have gone into the breakaway in the early skirmishes in the stage.
There are going to be some strong climbers who go on the attack but whether they are going to have sufficient speed in the legs to hold off the peloton in the latter stages is doubtful. Our La Vuelta Stage 15 prediction is Mads Pedersen to win.
