Clara Tauson is the 12th seed in the Roland Garros qualifying rounds. The world 126 faces Harriet Dart (who's ranked 161st) in the first round and is the favorite to progress. The 20-year-old recently got to the last eight of the ITF clay court tournament held in Portugal but lost to the then world number 93 Rebeka Masarova. Tauson has twice made it in the second round at Roland Garros but missed the tournament last year due to a back injury. This year has seen the Dane fighting her way back up the rankings after her time off court last year. One WTA quarter final has been reached for the former world number and an ITF tournament won.

Katie Swan is still waiting to make her debut in the Roland Garros main draw. It nearly happened in 2019 when reaching the final qualifying round. Last year didn't go so well as the British player lost at this stage. Swan is not in the best of form at present and has lost each of her last three matches. While her opponent has won seven out of ten matches on clay this year, Swan has lost four of her five. The winner of this match takes on either Petra Marcinko or Katherine Sebov in the second qualifying round. We believe it'll be Tauson who gets to play in that match.
