The second round of the Toray Pan Pacific Open sees ninth seed Katie Boulter up against lucky loser Kyoka Okamura. For the winner, there's a quarter-final against wild card Bianca Andreescu. Here's our match prediction.
Boulter is the world number 33 but a win here will take the British player up to 31st in the live list. The 28-year-old is hoping to reach her first quarter-final since the Eastbourne grass court tournament and that was back in June.
On hard courts, Boulter has had success this year, most notably when winning the San Diego Open in March with five wins over top 40 ranked players. In the first round of this tournament, Boulter beat qualifier Priscilla Hon for the loss of only five games.
Kyoka Okamura was ranked 271st in the latest list and had to go through the qualifying rounds. That didn't go well with a final qualifying round loss to Hailey Baptiste in straight sets. The 29-year-old was then reinstated into the main draw as a lucky loser.
That saw her have an instant rematch against Baptiste in round one, the first time this year she's been in the main draw of a WTA Tour event. This time the Japanese player won in straight sets.
