World number 34 Jordan Thompson takes on Nuno Borges in the Miami Open first round. The winner of this match faces the 12th seed Taylor Fritz in the second round of this outdoor hard court tournament. This is a Masters event so there are plenty of ranking points up for grabs this week. Thompson will be out to recapture the form that he showed last month. The Australian reached the quarter finals in both Dallas and Delray Beach before winning the title in Los Cabos. That tournament win saw him get victories over Alex Michelsen, Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud. He also got to a semi-final in Brisbane at the start of this year, including a win over Rafael Nadal. It hasn't gone so well in his last couple of tournaments though with two first round losses.

Nuno Borges is 61st in the latest world rankings. He lost in the first round in both Acapulco and Indian Wells, so took part in the Challenger Tour event held in Phoenix. That went well for him as he won the title beatng Matteo Berrettini in the final. His best performance before that had been reaching the last eight of the Los Cabos event that was won by his opponent. There's only been one match between the pair and that was won by Borges three years ago. However, that match was played on clay. We go for Thompson to get back in form and win this match.
