John Isner is renowned for his long matches, that's not been the case so far at Indian Wells as he's dropped just nine games in his two matches so far. He was impressive against 32nd seed Guido Pella but face a tougher task here. Isner reached two semi-finals in February but lost to lower-ranked players in both tournaments. Another semi-final came in Mexcio earlier this month.

Karen Khachanov ended last year in style winning the Paris Masters with a string of good wins. He's up to 13th in the rankings but hasn't built on that Paris victory. This is his first appearance in the last 16 of a tournament this year but nearly lost in the second round. Khachanov lost the first set to Feliciano Lopez before rallying to win the next two sets. Isner is in the better form and can get the win here.
