Jiri Lehecka vs Thiago Monteiro Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Mutua Madrid Open

30th-seeded Jiri Lehecka is in the third round of the Madrid Masters for the first time. He takes on the qualifier Thiago Monteiro for a place in the last 16 of this outdoor clay court tournament. In that round, the winner of this match will face unseeded opposition, either Pedro Cachin or a certain Rafael Nadal. Lehecka is 31st in the latest rankings but up to 28th in the live list. This run to round three in Madrid has taken him up to 23rd in the Live ATP Race. This is only his second time playing in this tournament and he lost in round two last year. It's also his first clay court tournament of 2024  Lehecka has won three clay court Challenger Tour tournaments in recent years. He's 2-0 up in previous matches against Monteiro with one being on this surface. Lajovic beat qualifier Hamad Medjedovic in straight sets to reach round three.

Thiago Monteiro was 118th in the latest rankings but is up to 106th now. The Brazilian had to win two qualifying matches to get into the main draw in Madrid. Both saw him have to go to a final set to get the victory.  He had a good win in the first round with a straight sets victory ovrer Dusan Lajovic. Monteiro followed that up with a big win over the sixth-seed Stefanos Tsitsipas. Like his opponent, Monteiro is in the third round in Madrid for the first time. His recent results have been poor on both the ATP and Challenger Tours. Whether he can build on that win over Tsitsipas (who has played a great deal in recent weeks) remains to be seen and we go for Lehecka to get the win.
