Seventh seed Jiri Lehecka will take on the qualifier Adam Walton in the first round of the 2024 Adelaide International tournament. The winner will then advance to play Dusan Lajovic for a place in the quarterfinals. Jiri Lehecka has had a bad start to the season and will be eager to put a stop to this here. The Czech number one has lost his opening two fixtures of the campaign which both came at the United Cup. This disappointing start is a continuation of how he finished last season. Walton is making his Adelaide debut and was in exquisite form in the qualifying rounds. The Australian won both his qualifiers without dropping a set and in each match defeated a top 100 ranked player. Pedro Cachin was defeated in the first round and then Bernabe Zapata Miralles fell by the loss of five games. Playing predominantly in the challenger circuit last season, Walton won 53 matches on hard courts. He is currently up two places to 174th in the live ranking which is a career high.
