Daniel Evans caused a big shock on Wednesday when beating second seed Tommy Paul. Now the British player faces lucky loser Jenson Brooksby in the last eight of the grass court Eastbourne International. Here's our match prediction.
Evans beat the second seed in three sets, losing the middle one. That followed his first round win when coming from a set down to defeat Miomir Kecmanovic. His two wins have taken Evans to 154th in the live rankings.
Last week saw the 35-year-old lose in round two at Queen's Club but had recorded a win over Frances Tiafoe before that. He's already been given a wild card for next week's Wimbledon Championships but has never made it past round three in that Grand Slam.
Jenson Brooksby was beaten by Aleksandar Vukic in the second qualifying round. After player withdrawals, the 24-year-old was reinstated as a lucky loser.
The most has been made of that reprieve with wins over Francesco Comesana and then the eighth-seeded Nuno Borges. His wins this week have taken Brooksby to 128th in the live rankings, well below the career-high 33rd he achieved three years ago.
He won a clay court tournament earlier this year but this is only his second quarter-final of 2025.
