Jasmine Paolini has defeated Gauff in both of their meetings this season. Both wins have been on clay with the most recent being the final of the Italian Open. With this dominant record, she will arrive for this latest duel confident of another victory. 

Paolini defeated Barbora Krejcikova by the loss of three games in the last round. Securing passage into the semi-finals will see her jump one place to eighth in the live ranking. 

Though she has struggled this season against Paolini, Gauff is a favourite to progress into the last four. This is because she has had considerable success in Cincinnati and is a former champion here. 

The American defeated Paolini in this very round on her way to being crowned champion in 2023. This was her second victory over the Italian. 

The world number two has been in excellent form at Lindner Centre, winning both of her fixtures in straight sets. Gauff defeated Lucia Bronzetti by the loss of six games in the fourth round.
