Jannik Sinner has finally started winning main draw matches on grass. He faces a tough task in the third round at Wimbledon when taking on 20th seeded John Isner. Sinner had never won at Wimbledon or in the main draw of a grass tournament before this week. It's his ability on clay and hard courts that has earned him his position as 10th seed in this tournament. Last week saw him lose at Eastbourne but he's won two matches at Wimbledon so far. The first round saw him have to go to four sets to beat veteran Stan Wawrinka. That was followed by a four set win over Mikael Ymer who is the world number 88 who's never got past the second round at Wimbledon.

Taking on the heavy serving John Isner is a whole new ball game for Sinner. Isner has won four grass court titles in his career, all at Newport in the USA. He's a former semi-finalist in this tournament and closing in on a world record number of aces. After a five set win over in the first round, it took him only four sets to knock out former champion Andy Murray in round two. He's not far off 100 aces already in this year's Wimbledon. If he can carry on that form and some good volleying too (he's been successful playing doubles this year), then Isner can knock out Sinner to secure a last 16 match against either Carlos Alcaraz or Oscar Otte. A side bet on a tie-break is as ever in an Isner match a good idea.
