Borna Coric is the 13th seed for the French Open and the Croatian is hoping to build on the success that he had at the Australian Open at the start of the year. He reached the fourth round there, his best performance in a Grand Slam tournament. In previous years, Coric has reached the third round at Roland Garros three times in the last four years but never made it any further. So far in the 2019 clay season, Coric has made it through to just one quarter-final and that was in Monte Carlo where he lost to Fabio Foginini. His last tournament was the Italian Open where he lost to Roger Federer in the last 16 but did take a set off the Swiss legend.

Jan-Lennard Struff is ranked 45th in the world and has never made it past the third round of a Grand Slam tournament. This is the first time he's reached the third round in Paris which is surprising as he's had a good clay court season this year. The German beat world number eight Stefanos Tsitsipas in Barcelona before losing to Rafael Nadal, though he did win ten games in that match. He kept up his good form with a win over Marin Cilic in Rome and then lost to Kei Nishikori in three sets. So far in Paris, Struff has won two four-set matches with half of those sets going to a tie-break. Go for Coric to get the win in this match.
