The penultimate match on Day 7 at the 2026 PDC World Darts Championship will see James Wade facing Ryusei Azemoto. The winner of this match between The Machine and Perseus will meet Ricky Evans in the second round. Let’s get into the match prediction.
James Wade has competed in every edition of the World Championships since the mid-2000s. He has never won the tournament but has reached the semis on four occasions (2009, 2012, 2013 and 2022).
This year has been one of resurgence for the Machine, as he has won PC19, the European Championship (beating Luke Littler), and reached the semi-final of the Czech Darts Open.
Wade got to the quarter-final of the PC finals last month and has six wins in his last 10 matches in all competitions.
Meanwhile, Ryusei Azemoto arrives at the Ally Pally via the PDC Asian qualification route, and he will be making his debut at the World this year.
Perseus has not featured on the World Series or European Tours this year, but has regularly reached the last-16 and quarter-final stages on the Asian Tour.
Azemoto’s most notable victory of the year came against Jelle Klaasen at the World Masters, but he is a massive underdog in this match against one of the most experienced Ally Pally campaigners.

Our James Wade vs Ryusei Azemoto Prediction
Ryusei Azemoto has mainly participated in the Asian Tour this year, which means that this is a massive step up in class, and it’s tough to make much of a case for him given the calibre of his opponent.
After a few quiet years, James Wade seems to have rediscovered his rhythm recently and is one of the very few who have been able to get the better of Luke Littler in a major tournament. We expect the Englishman to get through this match with little difficulty. Our James Wade vs Ryusei Azemoto prediction is James Wade wins & most 180s.
