Jakub Mensik had to come from two sets to one to get past Pablo Carrena Busta in round one. The 20-year-old has now won six of his eight matches this year. Last weekend saw him win the outdoor hard court tournament played in Auckland beating Sebastian Baez in the final.

Rafael Jodar is playing in his first Grand Slam tournament. The 19-year-old had to make it through the qualifying rounds. He won three matches with the final qualifier going the distance. Round one saw him beat fellow qualifier Rei Sakamoto in five sets after winning the first two sets.
Jodar has won ten of his 11 matches played in 2026 and was runner-up in the Canberra Challenger Tour event. He's up to a career high 118th in the live rankings. This will be tough and we tip Mensik to win this.
