Al Ittihad will be gunning for a return to winning ways when they host Al Wehda in the Saudi Super Cup semis. Al Ittihad’s league campaign has taken a few dents in recent times, the team dropping five points in the last two games. This cup game will be a welcome distraction. They are coming from a 0-0 draw with Al Taawoun, having earlier lost 1-0 to Al Ahli. Dropping points to two direct contenders for the top-two has really exposed Al Ittihad. Having failed to score in two straight games doesn’t work well on their confidence. The positive side, however, is that Al Wehda aren’t as strong as their last two opponents. Al Ittihad have also beaten Al Wehda in each of their last seven meetings. Playing at home will be a further boost for Al Ittihad, who have five wins in seven home games. They face Al Ittihad here, seeking a first win in eight meetings, and their last two games will provide motivation. The visitors are coming from a 1-1 draw with third placed Al Ahli. That followed on a 2-1 away win at Al Fayha. Al Wehda will go into this game feeling they can make it three games unbeaten. Their run may however be limiting, the visitors having won just once in nine matches. Three of their last five matches ended in defeat and they have no clean sheet in 11 games. It isn’t any better on the road; Al Wehda are on six defeats in the last seven away games, failing to score in five.
