After the joy of clinching their first ever league title in the Apertura stage, Once Deportivo experienced something of a championship hangover in matchday one.
They fell to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Fuerte San Francisco, last season’s ninth-place finishers. The result has Once Deportivo sitting ninth in the standings, although it is of course still early days.
The champions will hope to draw on the type of performances which saw them defeat the likes of LA Firpo, Cacahuatique and ultimately FAS, the latter of whom they erased a one-goal deficit to win 2-1 in the Apertura final.
