The Republic of Ireland have lined up a warm up game ahead of the European Cup qualifiers and they will be hosting Latvia in Dublin this Wednesday. In the first international break of the year, both nations will be keen to start on a high after stuttering towards the end of 2022. Ireland won two of their last five matches, their most recent game ending in a 1-0 victory away to Malta. That friendly game win also marked their first clean sheet in five games but they’ve scored in all their last five matches. Ireland have failed to score more than one goal in four of their last five matches even though three of their last four matches have produced over 2.5 goals. They've conceded twice in three of their last five matches.

Latvia haven't won in normal time in any of their last four matches. In their last outing last year, they drew 1-1 with Iceland in the Baltic Cup. That was their third straight draw and they lost on post match penalties. In each of their last four matches, both teams managed to score, with Latvia’s only clean sheet being the 2-0 away win over Liechtenstein. Both teams have scored in Latvia’s last four matches and only one of the last five has had over 2.5 goals. Latvia have scored more than a goal in one of the five matches and they’ve also conceded more than a goal in one of the five. Latvia have a good away run in their last five matches, going unbeaten. However, they have faced lower ranked sides in that period and this will be a bigger test.
