Inter Milan vs Bologna Prediction & Betting Tips - Coppa Italia

Inter Milan begin their Coppa Italia campaign on Wednesday and will host Bologna in the round of 16. The winner here will then advance to play Fiorentina in the quarterfinals. Inter are the two-time defending champions of the Coppa Italia. Only one team has won the competition more than twice in succession and Inter will hope to become the second. The Nerazzurri have been in excellent form this season and have lost only once across all competitions. This defeat came back in September and since then they have won 11 of 15 games. Simone Inzaghi’s men defeated Lazio 2-0 away from home last weekend to maintain their lead atop the Serie A. One of the four times they have failed to win in their current unbeaten stretch was against Bologna. The two teams battled to a 2-2 draw back in October in the league. Inzaghi is expected to make wholesome changes here.

Bologna have twice in the last 11 seasons been eliminated from this competition by Inter. The most recent time was in the 2016/17 season and they lost in this very same round. I Veltri haven’t progressed past the round of 16 for 10 consecutive seasons and have lost in this very round three times. Thiago Motta’s men are however in a rich vein of form at the moment and will be confident of upsetting their hosts. Bologna, who defeated Verona 2-0 in the last round, have lost only once in their last 16 outings. They have won eight times in this stretch and three of those wins have come in their last four games. The most recent victory came this past weekend as they overpowered Roma 2-0 at home to maintain fourth place in the Serie A. With a crucial league match coming up against Atalanta, Motta could be tempted to tinker with his squad here.
