The last five years haven't been great for Naomi Osaka but she's had a good start at the US Open. In the second round at the event, she will face Hailey Baptiste in what will be their third career meeting. The winner here faces Daria Kasatkina or Kamilla Rakhimova, and we have a prediction of the match.

For the first time in her career, Baptiste has made it past the first round at the US Open. She opened her seventh appearance at Flushing Meadows with a straight-sets win against Katerina Siniakova, moving her to a record 46th in the live rank.

Eight losses in the second round this season will, however, cause her some concerns.

Osaka is one of the top names at the US Open but across her last three appearances, she hasn’t had the best of runs. The Japanese athlete failed to go past the third round in those three, all of which were after her second US Open title.

She is coming from a 2-0 win against Greet Minnen, a worthwhile reprieve after falling for the second time in a final this season. Osaka arrived in New York fresh from a loss in the Montreal final and with a lot of lessons.

She has seven wins in the second round this season while only losing twice and is 24th in the live rankings.
