Greece - Finland: Form Analysis
Greece came up short in the semi-finals and did so in a big way against the exceptional Turks. Vassilis Spanoulis’s men, who had lost just once up until the semis, were outclassed and ended up falling 94-68.
That was their heaviest loss of the championships, as the other defeat, in the group stages, saw them fall by just three points. Despite not being able to make the championship game, the Hellas have significantly improved in this year’s championships.
Now, the chance to end their long wait for a medal is just one win away. The emphatic loss to Turkey has seen Greece, who had been ranked in the top three for defence all tournament, drop to fifth.
Being hosts aside, Finland have been amazing at this tournament.
Finland have fought against the odds to make it to the last four. They have played some amazing basketball, and having the co-host nation’s tag did not hurt. Lassi Tuovi’s men were drawn in a tough Group B alongside Germany, Lithuania, Sweden, Great Britain and Montenegro.
Winning their first three games proved enough to make the knockout rounds despite back-to-back defeats to end the first stage. In the round of 16, Susijengi pulled a shocker by eliminating heavy favourites Serbia 92-86.
Georgia were next to fall to secure passage to the semis, where another showdown with Germany awaited. This time around, Finland put up a better account of themselves and avoided a blowout loss by going out 98-86.

Greece & Finland Squad Analysis
Greece, who are featuring in the third place game for the sixth time, have relied heavily on Giannis Antetokounmpo for their scoring. The forward is one of the main favorites for the MVP trophy but winning his nation a first bronze since 2009 will mean more.
He is averaging almost 27 points a game, which is a tally bettered by only one other player. Antetokounmpo and Tyler Dorsey, 11.6 points, are the only players averaging double-digit points for Greece.
NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo is among the players who have lit up this tournament.
Finland have fared better on the offensive end compared to Greece. Lauri Markkanen has been instrumental in their success, averaging a team-high 23.6 points and eight rebounds.
Mikael Jantunen, 12 points and Olivier Nkamhoua, 10 points, have been Markkanen’s supporting cast. Markkanen is expected to operate mostly in the frontcourt which means he will have a number of face-offs with fellow NBA star Antetokounmpo, adding to a thrilling match.

Greece vs Finland - Other Interesting Predictions
Greece to win
For our second prediction for this match, we pick Greece to win. They may not be as offensively rich as their opponents, but Greece have one of the best defences. Though they lost heavily in the semis, Greece have suffocated their opponents with their length. With Antetokounmpo to spur them on, Greece should have just enough to get them through.
