Stage 3 Predictions & Betting tips - Giro d'Italia
by Matthew Newman |
The final of the three stages of the Giro d'Italia to be held in Albania is over 160km with a Cat Four and a Cat Two climb. From the top of the Cat Two, it is almost 40km to the finish, which makes it tricky for a prediction.
If the main sprinters can find their way over the Cat Two climbs then they will fight out the stage but the speed at which Lidl-Trek hit the climbs in the opening stage would blow them out the back.
As such, it is probably the smarter option to concentrate on the puncheurs and the Stage 1 winner Mads Pedersen has to be the place to start. His team were dominant in that first stage and he is the best sprinter of the puncheurs. Very much the one to beat.
Wout van Aert found it tough on the final climb on Stage 1 but he got himself back into things to challenge for the win. He looks the big danger once more.
The fifth home in Stage 1 was Tom Pidcock. The British rider is a solid climber and is more than capable of mixing it with the best of them in a sprint.
For those wanting a higher price each way, Francesco Bussato could be your man. 4th on Stage 1, the 22-year-old is a talent ready to go to the next level.
