Ghana had a winless opening match at the 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN) and will be hoping to rise in Group C when they face off with Sudan on Match Day 2. This group has three teams after Morocco pulled out as the team’s flight from Rabat was denied landing permission in Algeria. CAF announced that indeed Morocco had been struck off the fixtures and it means this competition will have a new champion. Ghana are bottom of the group with no points after their 2-1 loss to Madagascar. This match finds Ghana winless in all their last six matches in this competition. They have two wins in 10, and have lost three of their last four. Ghana have failed to score in two of their last three CHAN matches.

Sudan were supposed to start their campaign with a game against the defending champions but this was called off after Morocco pulled out. Now they come into this game without a win in their last three matches, and having failed to score in two of those three games. Sudan have managed just one clean sheet in their last eight matches ahead of this game. One major strength they carry to this game is that they have a good scoring run, managing two or more goals in four of their last six matches. In their last 12 CHAN matches, Sudan have suffered just two outright losses. Those losses have come in the last four matches in the competition. Sudan have however failed to score more than a goal in their last seven matches in CHAN competition.
