Germany are up against the Netherlands in the first of the 2024 Davis Cup semi-finals. Possible opponents in the final include the USA and Italy. Which European nation will make it into the final? Here's our match prediction.

The Netherlands caused a surprise in the quarter-finals when beating hosts Spain 2-1. Botic van de Zandschulp was their only singles winner as he defeated the now retired Rafa Nadal. Tallon Griekspoor lost to Carlos Alcaraz but the Dutch team won the deciding doubles match.

Germany won their quarter-final against Canada 2-0. Daniel Altmaier beat Gabriel Diallo and then Jan-Lennard Struff defeated Denis Shapovalov after losing the first set to the Canadian. Their two singles players are ranked slightly lower than the Dutch pair.

If the singles were to be shared then a doubles match would be played. If that is the case then the Germans will be in a strong position to go on and win the match. Their team of Kevin Krawietz and Tim Putz are both ranked in the top ten and together won the ATP Tour finals last week.  The Netherlands fielded top ten ranked doubles player Wesley Koolhoff and Botic van de Zandschulp in their match against Spain.
