Francisco Cerundolo vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP US Open

Two players from Argentina face each other in round two of the US Open. 29th seed Francisco Cerundolo takes on unseeded Tomas Martin Etcheverry. Who will make it into the last 32? Here's our match prediction.

The winner of this hard court match will face either fourth seed Alexander Zverev or wild card Alexandre Muller in round three. Cerundolo is the seeded player here but not the favorite to win this match.

He has played two recent hard court tournaments but lost both of his matches and failed to win a set. The first round saw him lose set one to Sebastian Ofner but he won the next three to reach round two for the second successive year.

Only once in the Australian Open and twice at Roland Garros has he reached at least round three of a Grand Slam. He's yet to win two matches in an ATP Tour hard court event in 2024 and may struggle to do so here.

Tomas Martin Etcheverry has had six previous matches against Cerundolo and it's 3-3 between them. All of those matches have been played on clay with Etcheverry winning two of the last three.

He's currently only three places below Cerundolo in the live rankings but 11 adrift in the ATP Race. He has played three recent hard court tournaments and had better results than Cerundolo has achieved.

Of his five matches in those tournaments, two were won and three lost. The two wins were both achieved against top 30 ranked players and two of the losses inflicted by players ranked in the top 16.

Etcheverry beat Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in straight sets to reach round two in New York for the second successive year. We tip him to beat Cerundolo.
